Chair's advice for senior high students
Hello students, It is good to see you here. On behalf of all current students and faculty of Leisure and Recreation Management Department, I would like to express our sincere congratulations to you on your success of becoming a college freshman. Through the information provided by our website, you will be able to have a better understanding about the School of Tourism and the Leisure and Recreation Management Department. In this message, I would like to share some ideas about how to have a better, colorful college life. Understand other people by respecting different voices and thoughts In the university, you will meet fellow students from different places or countries. Their behaviors, values, ideas or habits might be very different from yours. Sometimes, those differences could result in some conflicts, especially when you spend more time with them doing homework or projects together. Culture shock happens all the time, especially when we have certain encounters or interactions with others. Everyone should learn how to put ourselves into other people’s shoes and develop more consideration for and patience with people. Make more friends. Friends are a value your whole life long. I strongly suggest students should make more friends, especially from other departments or Schools. I notice that the majority of students only spend time with their own classmates. They seldom go to take classes in other departments or Schools. Having more friends from different backgrounds could broaden our views; and we can learn more things from different perspectives. Manage your time We only have 24 hours a day. In the university, time flies. You will be very busy dealing with study, homework, social events, love life, interest groups, part-time job, etc. Sometimes you will find time is tight, especially before the midterm and final exams. Students like to stay up all right long to get things done at the last minute. This is not good for health. I suggest students must learn how to prioritize, how to manage things in a more efficient way and how to get things done in more effective ways. Time management is an important lesson for every college student. Those are three points I really want to share with every freshman. Hope you enjoy every day in university. Now Color your College Life!
